IFN-g is a key immune mediator that plays a decisive role in both innate and adaptive immune responses, including antiviral, antibacterial and antitumour defence.
The in vitro effects of IFN-g at low doses (micro-immunotherapeutic IFN-g) have been recently examined in a study published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences. Cells treated with low dose IFN-g displayed an increase in cytokine secretion and their proliferative and phagocytic capacities, suggesting that this substance might be an interesting immunostimulatory and immunomodulatory medicine and thus deserves further research.
